Hello! I’m Nicky Pearce

Registered Nurse and Midwife

I am a trained Registered Nurse and Midwife, and live locally with my husband and three children.

Over 30 years I have worked in a number of areas of health, both in community and hospital settings as well as Midwifery for 18 years, with a strong community focus as a Lead Maternity Carer.

Prior to establishing Home SWEET Home Care, I spent five years working for Hospice Whanganui. I felt passionately about working with people near the end of their lives and the privileged role that this entails. While there, I could see families at times struggling to care for their loved ones and saw that an option for added support could be beneficial.

The need for this added support across many facets of the health sector has also been identified, and is an integral part of our service.

Our Approach & Values

Home Sweet Home Care has been developed to offer a service to those who need support, allowing them to stay in the comfort of their own home. We operate in Whanganui, the Manawatu and the Wairarapa. This is a private service and will suit those who have not qualified for care or would like additional support to their existing funded package of care.

We are locally based and will respond to any enquiries promptly and can offer a no obligation free visit to explain the service in detail. Our team are committed to offering quality care by experienced and compassionate staff.

Home SWEET Home Care exceeded our expectations in the caring and support they gave my father. They not only came into the home to help care for him but were there to offer advice and support when he was in hospital. Home SWEET Home Care certainly made a very hard time a lot more manageable.

Nicky and her team responded with exceptional professionalism and care to meet the changing needs of our 100 year-old plus Mother.

Nicky responded immediately within a very short lead time, personally meeting with us and following this arranged all the necessary support equipment and a team of carers, who were all wonderful in supporting our Mother’s comfort and wellbeing as their priority.

We were impressed with the level of personal service and an exceptional team of qualified carers whose empathy and attention to detail was outstanding. From their professionalism and care to the thoughtfulness demonstrated to our Mother, to include dressing her meal trays with flowers from the garden, all of which reflected the premium level of care and service delivered by Home Sweet Home Care.

We would highly recommend Home Sweet Home Care as a trusted, qualified, and caring team for supporting your family and friends when most in need.

After my recent hip replacement operation I engaged the services of “Home Sweet Home Care” to assist me during the early stages of my recovery.

I received assistance with things such as getting firewood, home cleaning chores (such as laundry, stacking dishwasher, making bed and general tidying as well as having someone nearby whilst having daily showers.)  And someone to assist with putting on surgical stockings.

The Carers were Professional ,Efficient, Friendly and Courteous and most importantly Non Intrusive.

From my experience I would have no hesitation in recommending Home Sweet Home to anyone in a similar position who was in need of home care.

Planning for hip replacement surgery meant in-home care for some time afterwards.  Quite by accident I was put in touch with Nicky at Home SWEET Home Care, and what a blessing that turned out to be.  Nicky came and talked about what help she and her team could provide, from nursing to household to meal preparation, to shopping – everything that I had thought of and more.

Unforeseen circumstances dictated that I was in hospital for much longer than expected.  But Nicky rose to the occasion, staying in contact with me and my family to make sure that when I did come out of hospital and return home a care plan was in place.  Indeed, Nicky went above and beyond all expectations.  Every member of the team gave 100% to making my recovery as easy as possible.  As I improved and regained my mobility I needed less and less help, but the same standards provided by the team remained in place.

I have the utmost confidence in recommending the services of Home SWEET Home Care and should the need ever arise I would not hesitate to use them again.

Our family would like to acknowledge the difference that Home SWEET Home Care made over many weeks with our mother following her hip replacement at the age of 90.

Such a major operation at that age meant that recovery was going to take something, and Home SWEET Home we believe made the difference.  However, it did not start after the operation, but with the planning beforehand.  Not only were they meticulous in their attention to detail, but their straight-up, honest discussion helped Mum and us understand the flexibility required post-operation because every person is different in their recovery.  What clearly underpinned their work was a commitment to having Mum getting her independence back.

The professionalism of having quality carers with Registered Nurse supervision while caring for Mum in her own home gave us so much peace of mind for her safety.  However, the most visible difference they made was the small touches such as setting up her meals with a little vase of flowers, or bringing some home baking.  Such little touches are arguably transformative because they create an atmosphere of kindness and care which is so important for healing.

As the time progressed one of the great parts of the Home SWEET Home Care system was the diary that family members were able to have a look at when we called in.  Such professional practice together with the personal touches made the investment in Mum being able to stay at home for her recovery so worthwhile.

Thanks Home SWEET Home

We had the privilege of engaging the services of Home SWEET Home Care for our beloved Aunt during the last stage of her life.  Under the attentive care of Nicky Pearce, a qualified nurse and midwife, and her team of experience care givers, Home SWEET Home Care offered unparalleled support and compassion to our family during a physically and emotionally challenging time.

Our Aunt required round-the-clock personal care and support, and Home SWEET Home Care delivered exceptional service.  From the very beginning Nicky Pearce and her team demonstrated unwavering diligence, expertise, and genuine compassion in attending to our Aunt’s needs.

Despite often demanding circumstances, Nicky Pearce and her team maintained constant communication and consultation with our family.  This level of engagement provided us with peace of mind, knowing that our Aunt was in safe hands and receiving the utmost comfort and care.

Throughout the 17 months of care, Home SWEET Home Care exhibited professionalism and real expertise in nursing and personal care.  Their dedication to ensuring our Aunt’s well-being was evident in every interaction and service provided.

Home SWEET Home Care was live-in and made our Aunt’s residence into a place of comfort, security and compassion.  We are very grateful for their unwavering support and highly recommend Home SWEET Home Care to anyone in need of personalised home care services

Home SWEET Home Care have cared for both our Father and Mother for a period of time until the end of their lives.

We had the same Carers during the relationship, and they were always reliable to the point they would go with our parent for a Hospital visit or stay on for longer hours with often no notice.  Our parents got to know them well and looked forward to their visits.  They would take care of their personal needs, take them for walks, read them news articles and generally engaged in conversation.  They significantly increased the quality of life for both of them for which we are extremely grateful.

We found ourselves in need of support, living overseas and our loved one living with dementia and in a vulnerable situation.  Trying so many avenues of support programs, we found the team at Home SWEET Home Care was simply outstanding.

Being overseas and implementing a care plan for a loved one in this situation was truly difficult.  Having Nicky and the Home SWEET Home team onboard with us, was often our sanity.  We experienced a kind, caring and understanding team and add in the knowledge we had close supervision from a Registered Nurse, this was such a reassuring constant which supported our loved one and the whole family during this difficult time.

Highly recommend Home SWEET Home Care for all of their services as they are flexible and accommodating in the most professional manner.  It truly was Nicky and the team that made it possible to keep our loved one at home and independent, while all other avenues of support were lacking significantly.

If you are looking for care and support, don’t hesitate and give Nicky a call today!
