Our Story
Home Sweet Home Care was founded in April 2021 by Nicky Pearce, a dedicated Registered Nurse with an extensive healthcare background.
Home Sweet Home Care was founded in 2021 by Nicky Pearce, a dedicated Registered Nurse with an extensive healthcare background. After years of working in various healthcare settings, including 18 years as a midwife, it was during her 5 years at Hospice Whanganui, that Nicky recognised a need in the community providing additional support to families. She recalled her own family sharing the care of her grandfather when he was sick and knew firsthand the challenges they faced. This very clearly became her “why” and wanted to ensure there was an option for families to consider additional support.
Nicky's nursing career has taken her around the world and into diverse healthcare situations where her skills have made a real difference. Her 18 years as a midwife enabled her to develop deep relationships with mothers and families in the community, sharing in some of life's most special milestones. This ability to be part of people's journeys forms the heart of Home Sweet Home Care's philosophy, including the privilege of being with those at the end of their life.
What Makes Us Different
Quality Over Quantity: We provide one-on-one care that allows time for those special touches without the rush – this is why our 2-hour minimum visit is in place. We make sure the client gets the most out of our visit, so they’re set up for the day or night.
Flexibility: Whether you need a few hours of support daily, overnight care, or 24-hour assistance, we adapt our services to meet your unique needs.
Community Commitment: We've supported a local rest home during the pandemic with staffing shortages, and we continue to work with GPs, and other health services to ensure seamless care coordination.

It might be just a few hours a week, or up to 24-hour care but it’s giving people the choice to live their lives “their way” that has such an impact on their quality of life.
Our service is now available in the Manawatu, Horowhenua, and the Wairarapa providing a greater reach to those wanting additional support.
